BioBean Coffee Mission Statement

  • BioBean Coffee is a company founded on ethical guidelines with a focus on producing a quality Fairtrade, organic coffee at a reasonable price to establish a better standard in the coffee industry.
  • BioBean Coffee only processes Fairtrade certified coffee, this is YOUR independent guarantee as the customer that the coffee you buy from us has been bought from the producer for a fair, sustainable price. The Fairtrade Organisation of Australia and New Zealand carries out audits every quarter to confirm that only Fairtrade certified coffee is being sold under the Fairtrade label.
  • As a part of the Fairtrade system, 2% of the profits made from sale of the coffee to you go directly back to the producer that the coffee was sourced from. In the case of the Café Femenino coffee, an additional 2% from the sale of this variety goes to a women's crisis center in our own community.
  • The coffee is organically produced, transported and processed in accordance with the guidelines of certifying bodies that are recognised by the Biological Farmers of Australia (BFA). BioBean Coffee are now the first, and at the time of writing the ONLY certified organic coffee roaster in Western Australia.
  • BioBean coffee is sold at a fair price. Consumers should not need to pay a premium for ethical, quality coffee. We do not pass on the increased costs to the consumer, we just make a smaller profit margin than other companies. However, the difference in cost when buying a cup of BioBean coffee rather than non-Fairtrade coffee comes down to several cents per cup more, and doubles the income of coffee farmers in the third world.
  • BioBean Coffee is all single origin with no blending. Blending of coffee is often used to disguise poor quality beans along with good in a product, ie, blending cheaper robusta beans with better tasting arabica to "bulk" out the product so that more profits can be made. At Biobean coffee all our products are single origin and 100% arabica unless otherwise stated.
  • BioBean Coffee is packed in high quality, resealable plastic bags with a one-way valve to release carbon dioxide from the coffee (Freshly roasted coffee beans will react with oxygen to produce CO2), we do not degas or tamper with the coffee in any way after roasting. Coffee beans are packaged right out of the roaster while still warm, or cooled for approximately twenty minutes for grinding and immediate packaging.
  • The BioBean Coffee company is family owned and operated, and will remain so. We have no intentions to franchise or grow to the point where we are unable to maintain a personal relationship with our clients, or ensure the high quality of our product.
